A new year of Scouting fun!
Great fun has begun again! Our troop has had its first meeting of the year AND we made to to Rally Day! Pictures to follow, plus some great shots from our tea party and banquet from May. Somehow I managed to get WAY behind in my posts--oopsie!

Emergency! Emergency!
Our troop is fabulous for many reasons. There are the girls, of course, who are all things darling and delightful. And then there are the moms. Our troop has some seriously fantastic moms. From our troop treasurer, Ms. Seana, to our cookie mom, Ms. Heather and all the moms who work so hard to get their daughters to and from our meetings, supply us with yummy snacks and just support us in every way. Thanks to mom and EMT Ms. Lisa for setting up our Emergency Services Day event!
March 4th the parking lot of Mike Moses Middle School was covered with emergency vehicles of all types! We had a firetruck (with an incredibly tall ladder!), an ambulance, and cars from both the city police and the sheriff's department. Of course, all the vehicles had the real-life superheroes who use them there to talk with the girls about their jobs and equipment. I'm sure the squeals and cheers of the girls could be heard for miles as the girls earned their "Respect Authority" petals.
World Thinking Day
World Thinking Day was in February and our troop celebrated it at our meeting on the 18th. The theme this year dealt with world hunger and poverty--tough issues for little Daisies to understand. I attempted to make a short video--sadly, my skills were a bit lacking, so their little voices were cut off mid-message. I'll post it anyway so you can get the idea once I figure out how to get blogger to allow me to do that...I may need to link it to youtube and go from there...update later!

SFA Planetarium & Library
We had a GREAT time at the SFA Planetarium learning all about stars and our solar system. Good pictures are hard to take in the dark, so here's a shot of the girls eating snack after watching the show and before heading next door to the SFA library!

After riding up the elevators we all headed over to the 4th floor windows to get a cool view of the campus!
Then, it was off to the children's section of the library for some reading fun!
It seemed like no time at all before we had to round 'em up and move 'em out.

But not before getting a group shot of all the girls who were able to attend both portions of the night's events.
Thanks for braving the weather and we'll see you next time!

Respect yourself and others
As Daisy Girl Scouts, one of the petals we earn is the "Respect yourself and others" petal. To earn this one, we invited Dr. Criss, a local pediatric dentist to speak with the girls about taking care of our teeth. Having healthy teeth is one way to respect yourself! Dr. Criss brought her big animals with giant toothbrushes so the girls could practice brushing teeth for two minutes!
We also made some yummy snacks that looked like smiling mouths with teeth using apples slices and marshmallows. :)
A good time was had by all and the girls each went home with a little goodie bag courtesy of Dr. Jennifer Criss. \
We talked just a bit about respecting others, too. Contest information was passed out for an art and writing contest being held for no-name-calling week.
